Onur Göztepe

Computational Design & BIM Specialist

I build BIM automation tools and workflows for the AEC industry. Specializing in openBIM (IFC, IDS, BCF), parametric design, and computational geometry solutions.

What I Do

Four pillars I work across—information management, computational design, development, and AI—always with delivery pressure so tools stay maintainable. Proof lives in case studies.

Information management

Treat BIM as an information system: who delivers what, when, and in which format—so exchanges stay auditable and CDEs stay usable.

  • ISO 19650–style naming, containers, and information exchanges; MIDP / TIDP and BEP-aligned delivery where the project uses them
  • BIM Execution Plans, responsibility matrices, and governance that teams can actually follow under deadline pressure
  • OpenBIM: IFC, IDS, BCF—and structured validation so handoffs are testable, not subjective
  • BIM–GIS workflows when location, assets, or environmental context need to align with the model

Computational design

Link geometry to performance—structure, environment, and optimisation—without losing interoperability downstream.

  • Structural parametric design and analysis-informed form (e.g. FEA-linked / Karamba-class workflows)
  • Environmental parametric design: climate, solar, daylight, and comfort-oriented studies
  • Multi-objective optimisation and exploration of trade-offs (Pareto-style decision support)
  • Simulation stacks and interoperability: Speckle, APIs, and custom data connectors so outputs stay portable

Development

Build the glue: scripts, plug-ins, and small apps that survive real projects—not demo graphs.

  • Grasshopper and Dynamo definitions wired into delivery (panelisation, QA, batch logic)
  • Revit / Rhino plug-ins and custom tools in C# and Python where the platform stops short
  • Web-based BIM-facing apps and API-first services (e.g. FastAPI) for QA, compliance, or team workflows
  • Desktop automation: Power Automate, PyRevit, batch export and publish patterns for federation and CDE cadence

AI

Fold ML and LLMs into AEC only where governance, maintenance, and measurable gain are clear.

  • AI / ML inside AEC workflows when the data path and ownership model are honest
  • LLM integration for specs, scripting assistance, and documentation—bounded by review and traceability
  • BIM agents and multi-step automations with explicit human checkpoints
  • Rule-based validation and compliance checking paired with geometry and openBIM stacks (IFC, IDS)

focus OpenBIM and interoperability stay central wherever data crosses tools—paired with standards and automation so teams do not drown in file churn. Get in touch for a specific workflow.
